Peltrie Cares Project: Stepping Stones Shelter Playroom

In the spring of 2026, Peltrie Place donated a renovation of the playroom at Stepping Stones Shelter. The goal was to create a thoughtful and engaging space for children of all ages, from infants to teenagers, while also providing comfortable seating for parents and caregivers.

Working closely with the Stepping Stones Shelter team, we took the time to understand how the room is used and what families need most from the space. It was important that the playroom feel functional and comfortable while still bringing a sense of whimsy and fun for the children.

Throughout the project, we loved getting to know the incredible staff at Stepping Stones Shelter. Their warmth and dedication to the families they serve inspired us to create a space that reflected that same sense of welcome and care.

A special thank you to the wonderful Wonderland Books for generously donating books for the playroom and helping us bring the space to life.

Stepping Stones Shelter's mission is to provide emergency shelter, food, and case management services to families experiencing homelessness, helping them move from crisis to stability quickly and in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
